Act 4
In act 4 of The Crucible, Reverend Hale is trying to get everyone who is convicted of witchcraft to confess that they have been worshiping the devil but he feels that these people convicted of practicing witchcraft are not guilty. Reverend Hale changes his mind about witchcraft and wants to wait to hang
the convicted people because he feels like it is his fault that they all have died.
Abigail Williams and Mary Lewis went on a ship to get out of town so they would not get hanged. Danforth tries to convince Elizabeth Proctor to have John Proctor confess that he has been practicing witchcraft. After this John Proctor is hanged and the witchcraft trials end.
